While some people truly enjoy traveling from point A to point B, most people can agree that it is time-consuming, stressful, and uncomfortable at times. We are constantly looking for ways to improve the less pleasurable portions of travel and make our lives a little easier.

A New York Times article strives to do just that. By purchasing items from this list of must-haves, you can make travel better– whether it be in the air, on the ground, or in your hotel room.

Bring a portable charger

Airport outlets can be few and far between. If you’re traveling via car, sometimes your car jack just doesn’t do the trick. When you’re packing your bags, make sure to bring an external battery. These can be purchased just about anywhere. Basic options with a single charging port can be purchased at your local drug store. For heavy duty options with several charging ports and even solar-power options, turn to your nearest electronics store.

Invest in a white noise machine/app

For many, the most difficult part of travel is the lack of sleep. Many people have trouble sleeping on airplanes or in unfamiliar locations. White noise machines can help diffuse the problem. Turn it on in your hotel and drown out the unfamiliar sounds that might keep you awake. With an app, you can plug in your headphones and cancel out airplane noise for a nap.

Wear an Eye Mask

An eye mask is another great solution to your sleeping woes. Block out light to keep things dark and comfortable, and to hopefully keep you asleep longer.
