Now more than ever, it is crucial that everyone does everything in their power to stay healthy and safe. As the situation surrounding our public health regularly changes, it is important to keep in mind these key pieces of advice. Practice these tips, and keep everyone (including yourself) safe.

Wash your hands

Whenever you go to the store or come in contact with someone you don’t live with, thoroughly wash your hands. Make sure you clean the backs of your hands, your palms, your knuckles, and in between your fingers for a minimum of 20 seconds. If, for some reason, you cannot get to soap and water, use alcohol-based sanitizers.

Social distance

If you must be in contact with someone else, keep at least six feet between you. At this distance, if the person sneezes or coughs, you should be far enough away that you will not be sprayed by droplets that could contain the virus.

Avoid touching your face

Especially out in the world, we touch a variety of surfaces that could harbor a virus. If you touch your nose, mouth, or eyes, you risk transferring the virus through those mediums, so avoid touching your face as much as you can.

Practice proper respiratory hygiene

Public health is not only about you keeping yourself safe, but others safe. If you cough or sneeze, make sure to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue. If you do not have a tissue, use your inner elbow.

If you have cough, fever, and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention

Do not go to the doctors unless your symptoms become unmanageable. Stay at home and take care of yourself. However, if you have a cough, fever, and difficulty breathing together, seek medical attention. Call your doctor’s office before going so they can take necessary precautions to keep everyone safe unless you have the virus.

In these times, stay healthy, stay safe, stay hydrated, and stay positive! We will get through this.
